County comp plan still on hold
The Kootenai County
commissioners didn't go into deliberations Tuesday night after
hearing two hours of testimony on the final draft of the county
Comprehensive Plan.
Terry Harris with the
Kootenai Environmental Alliance, who criticized the absence of
development densities in the plan, said he was surprised by the
modest turnout.
Only about 30 or 40
attended the hearing, he estimated, compared to some development
hearings that draw over 100.
He suspects folks
might be jaded with the process.
"I think people are
burned out," he said. "I would speculate that the same three
commissioners that came up with this draft will be making the final
decision, and I'm thinking that them changing their minds at
anything is unlikely at this point on anything major."
The commissioners
will hold deliberations on the plan at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18
in the Kootenai County Administration Building.
