Upholstery shop leasing larger space

Coeur d'Alene Auto & Boat Upholstery has begun leasing larger quarters next to its present location, said owner Patrick Norris.

The business, located at 6680 N. Government Way, near the intersection of Canfield Avenue and Government Way, has taken 4,800 square feet of floor space. That's double the 2,400 square feet the business had been occupying.

"It's been too crowded, but we've lived with it," Norris said.

The business will maintain the same address.

The upholstery shop has been at the current location for six years.

The business employs Norris and two employees, he said.

New business to tackle weight loss

A Post Falls health-improvement business to be called the Marci Clark Wellness Center is set to open Nov. 1.

The business will offer services for weight loss, bone health and fall prevention, said Jim Vester, director of sales and marketing for Marci Clark.

It will be located at 3904 E. Mullan Ave., in 1,200 square feet of leased space, Vester said.

The business will employ eight people, he said. It will need to fill some of those positions in the coming months, including coaches and counselors, he said.

He said there are six Marci Clark Wellness Center locations planned for the Coeur d'Alene-Spokane area.

An open house is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.

Equipment in the center is specifically designed to be used in 5 and 10 minute sessions while wearing street clothes.

The center uses body composition tools to help clients see increases in muscle mass and bone density.

Co-founder Marci Clark said, "We built this business model as a way to bridge the gap for those individuals who need solutions to improve their health, but cannot start in a traditional exercise program. Our center is designed to help anyone build more strength, increase bone density and improve balance in just minutes a week. It is especially helpful to individuals who do not like exercise or cannot exercise due to physical limitations."

Dentist takes stand against sweets

A Liberty Lake dentist is buying trick-or-treaters' candy for $1 per pound.

Dr. Jared Evans, of KiDDS Dental in Liberty Lake, said candy will be collected there, at 1327 N. Stanford Lane, on Nov. 1, the Monday after Halloween. The collection will be from 4-7 p.m.

The candy must be unopened.

It will then be shipped to troops overseas through the organization Operation Gratitude.

Evans is a pediatric dentist.
