Leon Hobbs, 75

Gentry "Leon" Hobbs, 75, born Aug. 22, 1935, was a native of Escambia County, Ala., and a recent and current resident of Spirit Lake. He passed away on Oct. 18, 2010, rather unexpectedly.

Leon, as he was known by family and friends, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. From a youth, he was active in baseball, softball, basketball and football. He played softball with a Navy team, while honorably serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Hobbs; his mother, Donnie Lee Roberson Hobbs; two brothers, Jessee (Buddy) Hobbs and James Floyd Hobbs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vernell; three sons, Bob, Gentry and Clint; four granddaughters; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Bobbie Levens and Sue Martin.

Leon was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Pastor G.W. Birdsong officiated.
