Ace Walden, 103

Amidee K. "Ace" Walden, 103, of Coeur d'Alene, died Oct. 23, 2010, at his home. He was born May 17, 1907, in Grass Valley, Calif., to Percy and Emma (Walton) Walden.

Ace moved to Coeur d'Alene with his family when he was 4 years old. He married Ellen Okerstrom on July 19, 1936, in Spokane and they made their home in Coeur d'Alene. Ace spent 42 years in banking and was manager of Idaho First National Bank. He was a 30-year member of the Chamber, served on the NIC foundation, was a member of Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church. He and his wife were instrumental in founding the Kootenai Cancer Center, and the Walden House bears their name.

He is survived by two nieces, one nephew and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen in 1991; a sister and two brothers.

A private gathering of invited guests will be held at a future date. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene, is in care of his arrangements.
