Lake City boys capture district swimming title

COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City senior Kjirsten Magnuson broke her own state record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.47 seconds in the District 1 swim meet on Saturday at the Kroc Center.
Joe Loftus set school records in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, as did Patrick Loftus in the 200 freestyle for Lake City, which won the boys title with 142 points.
Moscow won the girls title with 159 points.
Two Coeur d’Alene swimmers broke school records. Rachel Peterson, a senior, broke the 200-yard freestyle record with a time of 2:03.52. Travis Griffard, a junior, lowered his record for the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:01.97.
The state meet will be held Nov. 5-6 at the Treasure Valley YMCA in Boise.
