COLA: Shame on the nation
An open letter to Our Representatives: So, no COLA adjustment for Social Security recipients again. What are you people thinking? When I wrote to you of my concerns last year about this same issue you told me that well, Congress didn't get one either. Just so you know, there is a difference between not getting a COLA adjustment for someone making a six-figure salary and someone making $650 a month not getting a COLA adjustment.
Then you tried to tell me that the price of goods hadn't gone up so there was no need for a COLA adjustment for Social Security Recipients. I gotta laugh at that. Have you been to the supermarket? Have you priced dog food lately? Perhaps you should because that's all some of our seniors on Social Security can afford to eat. Gas prices have gone up about $.80 a gal here. You are really out of touch with the needs of the people.
You know Social Security isn't welfare. Social Security was earned and the people who earned it were FORCED to have it taken from them. Instead of the fund dwindling it should be growing. What are you doing with our money? It's OK to give Wall Street trillions but a COLA adjustment for seniors? Forget it.
And now Mr. Obama wants to give all the Social Security recipients $250. It should be $250 a month at the very least. Republicans or Democrats it really doesn't matter. You are sooo out of touch.
