Sixth-ranked NIC knocks off CCS in volleyball
SPOKANE - Danielle Hodge had 12 kills and five blocks for the sixth-ranked North Idaho Cardinals in a 25-18, 26-24, 22-25, 25-18 nonconference win over the Community Colleges of Spokane on Tuesday night at Spokane Falls Community College.
"Danielle was the spark of the match tonight," NIC coach Colleen Frohlich said. "We're just glad to get out of there with a win. Spokane came out gritty and played tough tonight. It was a good match for us to prepare for these conference matches we've got coming up later this week."
Kaylee Ponce had 13 kills and 10 digs, Kyona Hunt had 29 digs, Gabriella Rifilato had 28 assists, Janelle Vogt had five blocks and Brenna Peterson had 16 assists for NIC (21-5), which hosts Colorado Northwestern on Thursday at Christianson Gym.
"Both Danielle and Janelle were the life of the team tonight," Frohlich said. "Both of them did a great job of putting some balls away when they got a chance."
