Eva Marie Beck, 77
Eva Marie Beck, 77, passed away at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010.
Eva, who went by her middle name "Marie," was born in Novinger, Mo., on Dec. 1, 1932, to Flin and Eula (Springgate) Lindsey. Marie's family moved from Missouri to California when she was very young, landing in Calistoga, Calif., where Marie was raised. In 1946 the family relocated again, this time to North Idaho, where Eva graduated from Wallace High School in 1950.
Marie married Frank James Brown, her high school beau, the same year she graduated and the two had four children: Lyn, Doug, Teresa and Renee. Although they had lived up and down the Pacific Coastline, Marie was living in Idaho when Frank passed away overseas in 1965.
On Feb. 26, 1966, Marie married Mervin Lee Beck at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene. The two were blessed with a son, Nicholas. Marie and Mervin spent many years in North Idaho but after spending some time in Bayard, N.M., and Tooele, Utah, the couple eventually settled in Umatilla, Ore., in 1990.
Marie was a homemaker, and before her recent illness, she was actively involved in the community and the Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Mervin Lee Beck; four children: Lyn Brown, Doug Brown, Teresa Brown and Renee Carr (William); her sister, Elizabeth Lassila; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank James Brown; her parents, Flin and Eula Lindsey; son Nicholas Lee Beck; brother William Lee Lindsey; and her stepdaughter, Lisa Squirrel.
