Leroy (Jack) Knox, 74
Leroy (Jack) Knox passed away Oct. 17, 2010, at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Jack was born July 22, 1936, in Lewistown, Mont.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis; daughters Shelly Quinton, Stephanie and (Mark) Wiggins, Stacey and (Rene) Lopez; grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and John Quinton, Sydney Wiggins, Alex and Angelina Lopez; brothers, Glen, Dean, Don and Dale Knox; sister Josephine Anderson. He is also survived by his faithful dog "Lady" who was his constant companion.
Jack married Phyllis Smail Oct. 11, 1959. He received his Bachelor of Science from Montana State University. He spent his years raising his daughter's and working for Federal Crop Insurance. He retired in 1955, and promptly turned his time and energy to new activities.
Jack became a Master Gardner and took up Bee Keeping which he had first observed as a child on the family farm in Montana.
He served on the Board of Director's of Heritage Place/Coeur d'Alene Homes and Greensferry Water District, the Executive Board at Post Falls Landing Homeowners Association and was elected as a Kootenai County Fire Commissioner. Jack was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was the superintendent of the Agricultural Building at Kootenai County Fair for several years.
Jack enjoyed serving his community and was at his best when surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at River of Life Community Church, 3263 E. 12th Ave., Post Falls, ID 83854.
