Chamber offers insight into the candidates

| October 19, 2010 8:01 AM

Voters have plenty of resources to find out about candidates and issues on the Nov. 2 ballot. The Press will be publishing its voter's guide focusing on key Kootenai County races on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Candidate profiles and questionnaires can also be found on The Press website, cdapress.com.

Another source is the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce website, www.cdachamber.com. If any of the links included here don't work, please go to cdachamber.com/members/publicpolicy/2010candidatesissues. The Chamber's Public Policy Committee has again taken an active lead in reviewing important races and issues. The committee has reviewed, and the Board of Directors has adopted, a "yes vote" on the four proposed constitutional amendments. For information on each of these proposed amendments please click here.

Additionally the contested races (including write-ins) for State Legislative Districts 3, 4 and 5 and the North Idaho College Board of Trustee candidates received a questionnaire asking the following questions:

* What qualifies you over the others for the elected office you are seeking?

* What are your three (3) top priorities if elected?

* And, what specific actions would you take to address these priorities? As an elected official what will you do to ensure that Kootenai County has the quickest and broadest economic recovery in the region?

To review their responses please click here to gain a better understanding of the candidates running for official in Kootenai County. The Chamber provides you this information to aid in preparing to select our area's future leadership.

During this spring's Primary Election the Public Policy Committee presented the same questions to the County Commissioner candidates. With Commissioner Rick Currie's announcement as a write-in candidate we have reposted his and Jai Nelson's responses from earlier this year. Please click here to review their responses.

Four constitutional amendments are also on the Nov. 2 ballot. Sample ballots are at the county's website: www.co.kootenai.id.us/elections.
