Post Falls woman dies following crash

POST FALLS — A 57-year-old woman died Sunday morning at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, almost 12 hours after she was involved in a vehicle collision at a Post Falls intersection and hospitalized, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

Candice M. Lyman of Post Falls was the passenger in a 2000 Pontiac Montana minivan traveling southbound on Greensferry Road late Saturday afternoon, deputies said. Driven by Michael W. Lyman, 19, of Post Falls, the Pontiac failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the Hayden Avenue intersection, deputies said. The minivan collided with a 2006 Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Hayden Avenue, driven by Rebekah D. Bryant, 34, of Post Falls.

The sheriff’s department and county rescue personnel were dispatched at about 5:35 p.m., deputies said.

Candice Lyman was transported by ambulance to KMC, where she died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a sheriff’s department press release. As of Sunday evening, it was unknown whether her death was a result of the collision or previous medical conditions, the release said.

Rebekah Bryant and her passenger, Jacqueline J. Bryant, 60, of Post Falls, were extricated from the Camry by rescue personnel before being transported to KMC via ambulance, deputies said.

Michael Lyman was treated at the hospital and released, deputies said.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s department said, however Michael Lyman was cited for failing to stop at a posted stop sign and failing to display insurance information.

Rebekah and Jacqueline Bryant are still receiving treatment, the department said. The extent of their injuries and medical status are not known.

The Hayden-Greensferry intersection was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation Saturday, deputies said. It was reopened shortly before 7:30 p.m. The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Post Falls Police Department and the Idaho State Police.

The incident is still under investigation, the release said.
