Post Falls splits as regionals loom

POST FALLS — Ashley Jibby had 19 digs and 14 kills as the Post Falls Trojans split a pair of nonleague matches at the Arena.

Post Falls defeated Moscow 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 in the first match and fell to Mt. Spokane 25-16, 25-21, 25-23 in its regular season finale.

“I felt like we were really focused today,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “Especially against Moscow. We came ready to play and got some good experience going into regionals playing against Mt. Spokane.”

Tori Bertsch had 23 assists and eight blocks, Allison Meehan had 14 kills, Danielle Failor had nine blocks and Savannah Hill had four aces for Post Falls (26-6), which hosts Coeur d’Alene in the opening round of the 5A Region 1 tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Lakeland

RATHDRUM — Maddy Seaman had 12 kills, Anyssa Matheson nine as the Vikings beat the Hawks 25-18, 27-25, 25-22.

Demi Johnson had 15 digs and four aces, Kylie Curtis 23 assists, McKinna Seaman five blocks for Coeur d’Alene (9-15), which plays at Moscow on Monday.

Sonora Wilkes had nine assists, Erin Ogden eight digs, Sharon Gardner three kills and Kaitlyn Whitesitt two blocks for Lakeland (2-25), which plays host to Lake City on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Mackenzie Hamilton had 11 kills for the Titans in a 25-18, 25-11, 29-27 nonleague win over the Timberwolves.

Kelly Jo Cutler had 11 kills, Camille Rounds had 20 assists, MacKenzie Brown had six digs and two aces and Madi Farrell had three blocks for Lake City (7-16), which travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.

Jordan Schmerer had 12 digs and two aces for University.

Charter ousted

at 2A districts

LAPWAI — The Coeur d’Alene Charter Panthers were ousted in two matches at the 2A District 1-2 tournament, losing to the Grangeville Bulldogs 25-3, 25-11, 25-5 and the Kamiah Kubs 25-8, 26-24, 25-12.

“We started out kind of slow today, but had some good moments against Kamiah,” Charter coach Chris Smith said.

Brianna Marshall had 73 assists, Alexia Young had 18 digs, Emily Verhaeghe had five kills, Millie Schnebly had four kills and Allysa Cozzens had six blocks for Charter, which finished 1-16.
