PHELPS: Our right to ignore

| October 17, 2010 10:00 PM

The First Amendment rights of Rev. Phelps need to be respected even if he and his followers have no respect for anyone's rights or feelings. That's difficult if we have greater respect for tapeworms than we have for him.

Phelps' right to follow Satan's goals of hatred, bigotry and intolerance should be tolerated. His rejection of Christ's Sermon on the Mount is an issue between him and our loving, caring God. If Phelps wishes to twist and distort Christianity to serve a religious, fascist dogma then the U.S. Bill of Rights protects this right.

I am going to ignore his being here as I would ignore the existence of a flea on the back of a dog living in Afghanistan.
