HIGHWAYS: Match need, opportunity

I applaud the efforts of the local highway district commissioners to obtain funding for the needed resurfacing of local roadways. Repairs and maintenance are important to keep our roads useable and safe. Certainly with the loss of so many construction jobs, this work is welcome.

The stimulus bill was passed by our national leadership and is a debt of somewhere around $2,600 per person. Whether you approve of it or not, it passed. We need to make some effort to obtain our fair share, we will definitely have to pay for it anyway.

Matching a need with an opportunity is good management, shows thinking, demonstrates alacrity. Thanks to the commissioners!
