St. Maries completes another undefeated IML season
ST. MARIES — Marlee Masterson had 18 kills, three aces and one block as the St. Maries Lumberjacks beat the Priest River Spartans 25-9, 25-16, 25-10 in the Intermountain League finale for both teams Thursday night.
The win completed St. Maries’ seventh straight undefeated league season.
“Our offense ran real well and looked sharp,” St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. “Our defense continued to dig up their hits. It was an all-around good team effort.”
Jaylee Sines had 30 assists, Mariah Gladden had 13 kills and two blocks and Tia Asbury had 18 digs for St. Maries (21-5, 8-0 IML), which hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.
Morgan Stewart had 23 digs and two aces, Steffie Pavey and Taryn Eldore had six assists apiece and Beth Bykerk had four kills for Priest River (5-16, 2-6), which returns to action Oct. 23 at the 3A District 1 tournament at Lakeland High.

COEUR d’ALENE — Jennifer Schuman had 16 kills for the Timberwolves in a 25-23, 25-12, 28-26 loss to the Bengals in the 5A Inland Empire League finale for both.
With the win, Lewiston (24-6, 4-2 5A IEL) will be the second seed in next week’s 5A Region 1 tournament and will host third-seeded Lake City on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Booth Hall. Top seed Post Falls will host fourth-seeded Coeur d’Alene in the other semifinal match.
Kaeli Fisher had five blocks, MacKenzie Brown eight digs, Camille Rounds 20 assists and Madi Farrell two aces for Lake City (7-15, 2-4).

Lakeland
SANDPOINT — Sam Buratto tallied 11 kills, four blocks and four aces to lead Sandpoint to a 25-16, 25-8, 25-14 sweep of Lakeland in 4A Inland Empire League action at Les Rogers Court.
Ashley Shepard added eight kills, Mackenzie Jones 18 assists and Blake Plaster 11 digs for the Bulldogs (13-6, 4-0 4A IEL).
Kaitlyn Whitesitt had eight kills and two blocks, Erin Ogden nine digs and Sonora Wilkes 13 assists to lead the Hawks (2-22, 0-4 4A IEL).
Lakeland opens vs. No. 2 Moscow at the 4A Region 1 tournament Oct. 23 at Sandpoint.
