Police go to the tape for guitar theft

COEUR d'ALENE - The eye in the sky doesn't lie.

A Lake City High School student reported that his guitar was stolen Sept. 29 on school grounds, but the video cameras surveying the parking lot told a slightly different variation of the story.The male student told officers that his acoustic Martin guitar was likely stolen out of his car while it was parked in the student parking lot between 3 and 5 p.m.

But officers reviewed footage from the parking lot and spotted the student at around 3:30 p.m. walking with his guitar, setting it behind his car and then driving away.Around a half hour later, an unidentified male and female came into the frame. The female scooped up the abandoned six-string and was last spotted walking northbound on Ramsey Road.
