Dakota Ave. Hayden, Idaho, beginning at 3:00 p.m., PST, October 25, 2010. KEC will lease a one acre parcel of land at the Fighting Creek Landfill, which is 13 miles south of Coeur d'Alene off Highway 95. Construction is to include a one story CMU building, generators, radiators, storage tanks, and other mechanical equipment used to convert the methane gas purchased from the landfill into electricity that will be distributed to members of KEC. Currently the gas is burned in enclosed ground flares and an evaporator. This project will result in increased rate stability for KEC members and will not directly cause rates to increase. This renewable energy power plant is financed through the use of low-interest, Clean Renewable Energy Bonds. The purpose of the public meeting is to discuss the air quality related aspects of the project.
