VOTE: Don't let minority dictate
The time to vote on Nov. 2 is rapidly approaching.
The sad fact is that in the past decade or so, voters have constituted less than 50 percent of the local population. Which means that a minority puts into motion laws or candidates who will influence the very way in which we will live for years to come. And the most unfortunate fact that exists is that not only do people not vote, but statistics show there are many people eligible to vote who have not even registered to vote!
This is not only shameful, but it is also true that many of these people are the very ones who write complaining letters in our Press. Well, you don't vote, you don't have a leg to stand on, complaining about anything.
Yes it is often difficult to make choices concerning a certain candidate, but a little research can help you find a middle ground. No, you may not agree with every stand a candidate takes; wives' opinions may be the opposite of husbands' outlooks, friends may see things in an entirely different perspective, but in the end the very act of voting for the one you perceive as the best choice is a freedom you cannot misuse or ignore. Vote, even if you feel you are voting for the lesser of two evils. Not voting at all is a vote for the greater evil.
As a local citizen and registered voter for many decades, I urge all eligible people to register and vote this November.
