Maynard Clarence Olson, 88

Maynard C. Olson, 88, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Legends Assisted Living Community in Coeur d'Alene after an extended battle with cancer and COPD. He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Louis and Phoebe J. (Holliday) Olson.

In 2005, he moved to Coeur d'Alene from the Portland, Ore., area where he had resided for more than 60 years.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie (Goodwin-Kautz); his second wife, Gerry (Taylor-Isaacson) and his third wife, Edith (Slate-Walker).

Maynard was the father of nine children including a daughter, Barbara J. (Kautz- Westaway) Stoneking (Richard S.) of Columbus Junction, Iowa, and a son, Gary W. (Olson) Isaacson (Mary R.) of Coeur d'Alene. His surviving grandchildren include Jerry E. Westaway and Ronald G. Westaway of Iowa, David M. Kautz (Clarissa) and Sharon M. (Kautz) Gray (Adam) of Oregon, Thomas Olson Jr. (Joni) of Utah, Monique A. (Isaacson) McKenzie (Deacon) of Hayden and Hans K. Isaacson (Tracy) of Spokane, Wash. Among his great-grandchildren are Lauren, Kirk and Cade McKenzie and Samuel Isaacson. He is also survived by his niece, Jean K. Brown (Larry) of Illinois City, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Phoebe; his wives, Bessie, Gerry and Edith; his sisters, Marcella M. (Olson) Moore and Maryland V. (Olson) Rice; and a grandson, Raymond A. Westaway.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to both Legends Assisted Living Community and North Idaho Hospice for the exceptional care that they provided him the last few months he was with us.

Per his request, no services will be held and his cremated remains will be placed in the St. Pius X Columbarium with English Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
