ECONOMY: Base it on production

| October 13, 2010 10:00 PM

Isn't it about time for someone to tell the real truth and not worry about looking good? I, like everyone else of my age, have allowed myself to become totally dependant on government for support. I fought against Socialism Security most of my life and resented it when it was automatically deducted from every paycheck without even a chance to hold my earnings for a few minutes. It just didn't seem fair in a free country. I never did trust politicians, but was just vaguely aware as they were stealing the richest fund that the federal system had and replaced it with worthless I O U's.

I must say just vaguely aware because, at the time, there were rumors of what was happening, but we were led to believe that everything would be all right, so few if any really took it seriously. As usual we just let it go and didn't make any better plans for our own security until it was too late. It is always more pleasant to blame someone else, but in our deep hearts, most of us will have to admit that we should have paid more attention when we first realized that things didn't seem quite right.

Now that we have shed the guilt that has been weighing us down, let's start making a plan to recover! Of course it is possible! Haven't we always known that we can do anything if we really try? Please try to realize that any productive system can support a few, non-productive managers, depending entirely on how much each productive member is really producing. Our present system has far exceeded the acceptable ratio and can't sustain its own weight. It's nice to make a living just giving orders, but everyone can't do it. Try to produce something, and eliminate most of those who won't. This will be a good start and provide money for those who will. It is only a start.
