Local teams finish up at Crossover Classic

SPOKANE — Post Falls defeated Walla Walla 25-17 to finish tied for seventh place in the silver bracket of the Crossover Classic. The Trojans defeated Reardan 25-20, 25-20 and fell to Tahoma 25-21, 26-24 in bracket play.

In earlier action on Saturday, Post Falls lost to Jackson 25-21, 26-24 and defeated Moses Lake 25-15, 25-20 to finish their pool 1-2.

“It was an up-and-down day for us,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “We had some good matches at times and had some good moments of energy and intensity.”

Lake City finished 31st, defeating Southridge 25-18 on Saturday in a placing match.

Lake City was second in its pool, beating East Valley 25-23, 25-19 on Friday and losing to Barlow 25-19, 25-18 and Cascade 25-21, 25-20 on Saturday.

Lakeland fell to Heritage 25-21, 25-22 and Pasco 26-28, 25-23, 15-13 to conclude pool play. The Hawks also fell to Lewis and Clark 25-9, 25-12 and Prosser 25-23, 22-25, 15-8 in bracket play.

Ashley Jibby had 14 kills and 19 digs, Allison Meehan had 13 kills and 26 assists, Sierra Monti had 13 kills and nine blocks and Tori Bertsch had eight aces for Post Falls (24-4), which travels to Colville on Tuesday for a tri-match with the Indians and Lakeland.

Kaitlyn Whitesitt had 17 kills, four blocks and eight aces for Lakeland (2-21), which travels to Colville on Tuesday for a tri-match including Post Falls. Erin Odgen had 65 digs and Sonora Wilkes had 25 assists for Lakeland.

No report was received from St. Maries and Sandpoint.

HAYDEN — Desi Reardon had 12 digs for the Royals in a 25-17, 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-13 nonleague win at Project CDA.

Courtney Lawson had seven assists, Shelby Donovan had five aces and Hannah McCauley five kills for North Idaho Christian (7-4), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday to face the Kootenai Thunder.
