AGE: Of info or of ignorance?

| October 8, 2010 10:00 PM

Have you ever tried to get the down low concerning bills our politicians introduce? How about, where is the money really going? Or why do we hang on to the I.R.S. when it costs so much to operate.

I have more questions that I would love to have answered but by whom? I have spent endless hours on the net and still finish my searching with little more info than I began with.

Yes I have e-mailed my representatives and even the governor's office. I discovered that you can receive some wonderful "thank you for your interest" letters. Nothing of any value.

In the news we can get all the info we need as to why we should hate Republicans, or why we should hate Democrats. In the process we sometimes get a little tidbit of actual information that hasn't been tainted by party politics, but it's rare.

Just about everyone can rattle off a hundred reasons why we should hate the other side. Most of those reasons are based on falsehoods and rhetoric generated by biased media; media more concerned about ratings than truth.

How can we the public cast a sensible vote when the info we receive has been perverted and intentionally distorted? How do we as voters recognize true facts when we do get them?

This is not the age of information, it's the age of ignorance. And it seems we have all been hood-winked into playing some kind of sick finger-pointing game.
