Cardinals earn draw with CBC
COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho College allowed an own goal in the 73rd minute to finish with a 1-1 draw against Columbia Basin on Wednesday at Eisenwinter Field.
NIC midfielder Jordan Boone took a pass from Diego Esquivias and scored on a 1-on-1 attack against Columbia Basin goalkeeper Abel Bautista in the 23rd minute.
“It was a terrific goal,” NIC coach Scott Moorcroft said. “It was unfortunate that (Columbia) scored on an own goal to tie the match.”
Columbia Basin scored in the 73rd minute after NIC attempted to clear and the ball hit off defender Nick Shiner’s leg and rolled 17 yards into the net.
“It was a great match,” NIC coach Scott Moorcroft said. “Both teams had chances to win the match. We were a bit tired still from the trip to Laramie, but I was happy we battled through the game.”
Alex Olmos had seven saves for NIC (4-7-1), which faces the University of Idaho Club team on Friday in Moscow.
