DENVER - University of Idaho sophomore forward Chelsea Small was honored on Monday as the Verizon Wireless WAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Vandal womens soccer team to a 2-0 record last week.

Small, of Solana Beach, Calif., scored four goals in two games during the week, including game-winners in both matches.

Against Portland State, Small helped Idaho lock up its best non-conference record in school history (9-3-0) with a pair of goals on eight total shots in the 3-2 win over the Vikings. On Sunday, she led the Vandals to their first win over Hawaii with two more goals on four total shots.

With her two game-winners, Small moved into a tie for Idaho's school record with six career deciding goals, while her five winners this year are a single-season school record and are the most in the WAC so far this season.

Small leads Idaho this season with nine goals and 20 total points, and leads the conference with 66 total shot attempts and five game-winners.

The honor is the second of Small's career and the first of the 2010 season. It is the second weekly honor for Idaho this year. Junior Liz Boyden was honored as WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sep. 6, after leading Idaho to a 2-0 record with just one goal allowed at the Governor's Cup tournament.

Small will lead the Vandals into a pair of home WAC matches this weekend. First, the Vandals face Louisiana Tech on Friday at 3 p.m., then they take on New Mexico State on Sunday at 1 p.m., both of which will be played at Guy Wicks Field.
