COEUR d'ALENE - An equipment failure led to a power outage that resulted in about 2,000 Avista customers losing electricity Saturday in the downtown Coeur d'Alene area.
Avista spokeswoman Debbie Simock said Monday that a customer reported late Saturday that a car hit a pole in the 800 block of North D Street.
"However, the Avista crew did not find an accident when they arrived at the location," she wrote in an e-mail. 'After patrolling the line, they were able to determine that an equipment failure had caused the problem that resulted in about 2,000 customers losing power at 10:54 p.m."
All customers were returned to service by 1:09 a.m.
