Cardinals outlast Eastern Utah

PRICE, Utah — Tina Strahinic had 20 kills, Fei Gao recorded 20 digs and nine kills and 10th-ranked North Idaho College defeated Eastern Utah 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 30-32, 15-8 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday night.

Gabriella Rifilato led the Cardinals (16-5, 2-0) with 32 assists.

“In the first two sets we came out, were sitting comfortable and had the win in hand,” NIC coach Colleen Frohlich said. “Even though we lost the fourth set, we battled back from a 21-14 deficit and regained the momentum heading into the fifth set. We came out with the win, which I’m very happy with.”

Kyona Hunt recorded 22 digs for the Cardinals, who play Colorado Northwestern today at 3 p.m. at Rangeley, Colo.
