COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene School District canceled classes scheduled today because of extreme cold temperatures.

"At these extreme low temperatures, the buses will not run properly as the diesel begins to gel," the district's Web site says.

Coeur d'Alene's high schools were scheduled for a half-day today. Elementary and middle schools were scheduled to be closed for the holiday.

The Post Falls School District closed Tuesday. Officials said windchill, drifting snow and poor visibility forced classes to be canceled.

The district will be closed today for the holiday.

The Lakeland School District was open Tuesday. It will be closed today because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
