Fire Fighter Academy hosts information session

The public is invited to a free information session to learn more about North Idaho College's Fire Fighter I Academy from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls.

The Fire Fighter Academy prepares students and fire service professionals for the written and skills examinations for Idaho Fire Fighter certification.

Managed through NIC's Workforce Training Center, the course includes 230 hours of instruction in basic firefighting skills, hazardous materials and infection control for emergency responders.

At the Nov. 18 session, representatives from Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai and Northern Lakes fire departments will present information on the Fire Fighter I Academy.

Qualifications, prerequisites and opportunities in the fire and emergency services field will be covered. Applications will be available. Prospective academy participants are strongly encouraged to attend.
