DOG PARK: Try it, you'll like it

The Kootenai County Off Leash Dog Park, located on Atlas Road and Nez Perce Drive, opened on Labor Day 2010 and has already become a destination for many happy citizens and dogs. An off leash dog park ranked No. 3 when the city of Coeur d'Alene polled voters on what improvements they would like to see in our community.

The Parks Department, generous donors, and the Kootenai County Dog Park Association (whose motto is: "We do it for the dogs!") stepped up to the plate and made it happen. Thank you to all those who donated time and resources to make our first off leash dog park a reality. I hope the Northshire Park facility is the first of more dog friendly parks in our town.

P.S. Even if you are not a dog owner, come see our furry friends romp and run free. It is a joy to watch!
