A 21-year-old Coeur d'Alene woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 53 at Prairie Avenue on Sunday, Idaho State Police said.

Lauren M. Smith, driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla, was stopped at the Prairie Avenue intersection of the highway and was waiting to make a westbound turn onto the highway, police said.

An eastbound semi-tractor trailer rig was attempting to make a turn onto Prairie, blocking Smith's view of the highway, police said.

A 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by 56-year-old Michael D. Smith of Hayden, was traveling eastbound on the highway directly behind the semi-truck.

Lauren Smith attempted to enter the highway, pulling out in front of Michael Smith's truck, and the two collided.

She was taken to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene where she was treated and released, a spokeswoman for the hospital said Sunday.

Michael Smith was not injured, state police said.
