SCORE plans summer of workshops
A series of workshops for a variety of business needs will be held by SCORE beginning in June and running through August.
They will be held 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the SBA Training Room, 801 West Riverside Ave., fourth floor in Spokane.
The cost is $35 per person pre-registered or $45 on the day of class, or $125 for the four-class series, and $10 per additional person.
Workshops will include:
nHow to Start a New Business: Step-by-step consideration of legal, tax, insurance, accounting, business planning and funding topics that you need to address to successfully start a business Wednesday, June 2, July 7 or Aug. 4.
SCORE welcomes veterans to attend the Starting a New Business workshop free. Identify yourself as a vet when you register and show your military ID upon arrival to have the fee waived.
nHow to Write a Business Plan: Discover why successful businesses operate with a plan. Learn how to write a comprehensive business plan. Get assistance from a SCORE counselor to review and help refine your plan, Wednesday June 9, July 14 or Aug. 11
nBusiness Marketing and Sales: Gain insights into how to identify your prospective customers, how to attract them to your business, and how to get them to buy your products and services. Wednesday June 16, July 21 or Aug. 18
nFinancial Recordkeeping: Know how to understand and use your financial statements as business management tools. Intro to QuickBooks Simple Start, plus get a free copy. Wednesday June 23, July 28 or Aug. 25
nIntellectual Property: What is intellectual property? Why is it so important? How do you protect it? How can you make money from it? This workshop will discuss trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks and patents for small businesses. Wednesday, June 30.
Business owners in need of money can attend a free SBA business loan briefing to learn about what lenders look for and what to do to prepare for your next step. Briefings are held noon-1 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.
SCORE volunteer business advisers provide free and confidential one-on-one counseling by appointment as well as can provide guidance at your place of business by special arrangement.
