SCAM: Children and the elderly
Just say no! No, I am NOT talking about drugs. I am speaking to the elderly.
I was in a local grocery store Monday evening. As I approached the dairy section, I noticed two young girls (approximately 14-15 years old) speaking with an elderly lady. As I walked past I turned to look at the lady. She had a look of confusion on her face.
Whooaaa... Head’s up. I loitered, looking at various products. She dug in her purse and pulled out some money. The girls said “thanks” and ran off. I approached the lady and asked, “Do you know those girls?” She stated “No, they needed money for gas.” I said “That is soooo wrong!” She stated “Yes, I agree....but....”
As I walked off I was sooooo furious! I checked out about three minutes later and asked if there was a manager on site. The checker caught one on her way out. I explained what happened and gave a description of the girls, as I had just seen them go into an aisle.
I am not sure how often this happens, but it is probably not the first time. Talk about scams on the elderly!
Parents: It is after school. Do you know where your children are?
What is more: Do you know what they are up to?
