NIC's Dalton in tie for 8th at nationals
OWENS CROSSROADS, Ala. - North Idaho College sophomore Branden Dalton shot a 76 on Thursday and slipped to a three-way tie for eighth place after three-rounds of the 72-hole NJCAA men's golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail River Course.
Dalton is at 217 (70-71-76), six strokes behind the leader, Brandt Garon (71-72-68-211) from Meridian (Miss.) Community College,
Other scorers for NIC on Thursday were Jeremy Jensen (76), Ben Johnson (78) and Kris Brett (80).
NIC is in 17th place with a 921. McLennan Community College of Waco, Texas, leads by nine shots at 860.
The tourney concludes today.

NIC women
finish tied for 13th
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Cardinals shot 364 on the final day and finished in a tie for 13th place with Iowa Western out of 20 teams at the NJCAA tournament at the LPGA International Golf Club.
Amanda Wemple shot 86 to lead NIC, which finished at 1,110. Other scorers were Ashley Burke (88), Emily Thorud (94) and Kelsey Harden (96).
Last year, in its first trip to nationals, NIC finished 13th out of 15 teams.
"I'm happy for us that we've come back here and established ourselves as a team, and improved on last year," NIC coach Randy Boswell said.
Host Daytona State College shot an 869 and won by 60 strokes. Mitsuki Katahira of Daytona State shot 73-64-74-211 to earn medalist honors by eight shots.
