NIC's Dalton tied for second
OWENS CROSSROADS, Ala. - North Idaho College's Branden Dalton shot a 2-under par 70 to move into a tie for second place at the NJCAA men's golf tournament Wednesday.
"He hits the ball so straight," NIC coach Randy Boswell said.
NIC shot a 310 on the second day of the tournament, pushing their total to 611 strokes, which has the Cardinals in 16th place in the 22-team tournament.
Dillion Williams (156), Ben Johnson (160), Jeremy Jensen (161) and Kris Brett (161) also scored for NIC.
McLennan Community College leads the tournament with a 575. Zach Primavera of Central Alabama is leading the medalist race with a 140, one stroke ahead of Dalton and Dan Dawson of Indian Hill.
The tournament continues today and runs through Friday.

NIC women sit
in 13th place
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The North Idaho College women took 20 strokes off their team score to move one spot up into 13th place at the NJCAA women's tournament at Daytona Beach.
"Our goal was to move up a notch," North Idaho coach Randy Boswell said. "The key was getting off the tee better than Tuesday. We wanted to shoot 25 strokes better than yesterday (Tuesday), but I'm pleased with how we did today."
Ashley Burke shot a second round 87 to move into 53rd place with a two-day total of 177.
Also scoring for NIC were Amanda Wemple (90), Kayla Lloyd (92) and Emily Thorud (94).
Daytona State's Mitsuki Katahira shot an 8-under par 64 to take the medalist lead.
The tournament concludes today.
