Bike event is Saturday
COEUR d'ALENE - In celebration of "Bike To Work Week" The Community Roots Program of the Kootenai Environmental Alliance is holding a free bicycle event Saturday called "The Roots Pursuit."
The Roots Pursuit event consists of 12 challenges throughout downtown Coeur d'Alene. Teams start from the Shared Harvest Community Garden at the corner of 10th and Foster, and bike to one of three downtown "hubs."
At each hub, teams choose from several challenges, which may involve physical, mental, and/or creative skills. Points for each challenge are awarded based on team performance.
Teams will complete as many challenges as they can within a two-hour time limit.
"This event is an opportunity for the community to get out on their bikes and have some fun," said event coordinator, Angela Earnhart. "The event is low-key, fun and not for folks who take themselves too seriously."
The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Shared Harvest Community Garden and check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. A finish line celebration will be held at the garden at 1 p.m. where prizes will be awarded for the team that is able to complete as many challenges as they can within a two-hour time limit.
