The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce Membership Outreach Committee will host a workshop on networking from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. This is a "how to network" basics class for new, old and in-between business members who need to learn or brush up on their face to face skills. This workshop is held at the Coeur d'Alene Chamber office and is free to attend but requires an R.S.V.P.

Thrivent rep honored

Dave Forsythe, LUTCF, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has qualified for the organization's prestigious Summit Circle for 2009 achievements. In order to qualify for the Summit Circle, Forsythe demonstrated outstanding sales and service to members.

Forsythe, of Rathdrum, is with Thrivent Financial's Northern Rocky Regional Financial Office, and serves Lutherans and their family members in the surrounding communities by providing financial guidance and solutions to help them achieve their financial goals.

Ten percent of Thrivent Financial's 2,500 financial representatives qualified for the Summit Circle. Forsythe has been with Thrivent Financial and its predecessor organizations for 29 years and has been recognized for his performance 28 times.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a nonprofit, Fortune 500 financial services membership organization helping about 2.6 million members achieve financial security and give back to their communities.

Klein elected to Avista Corp. board of directors

Avista Corp. shareholders have elected Rebecca Klein, 44, to the board of directors for a term expiring in 2013.

Klein is a principal of Klein Energy, LLC, a regulatory and government affairs consulting company. She also serves as Of Counsel to the law firm Tuggey Rosenthal Pauerstein Sandoloski & Agather LLP. Over the last 20 years Klein has worked in Washington, D.C., and in Texas in the energy, telecommunications and national security arenas. Klein's professional experience also includes service with KPMG Consulting (now Bearing Point).

Since January 2008, Klein has served as chair of the board of the Lower Colorado River Authority, a public power utility owning generation, transmission and water services across the central Texas area. In addition, she is chair of Power Across Texas, a nonprofit organization that focuses on advancing information about clean, affordable and reliable energy in the state. She also has served as a commissioner with the Texas Public Utilities Commission and subsequently as chair.

Klein earned a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in national security studies from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology from Stanford University. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
