MACKAY: Sharing wisdom weekly
As an avid reader of the Coeur d'Alene Press for the past eight years, I would like to thank your newspaper for running the regular feature article by Harvey Mackay on your Business page every Sunday. I look forward to reading it each week and think the advice he gives is very helpful and encouraging for people in all walks of life.
Especially during these times of high unemployment, Mr. Mackay's advice, if taken, gives specific directions and 'steps to take' to get back on one's feet and learn to evaluate and use the various skills a person has to seek employment. He gives guidance to broaden their scope of contacts. I find his articles easy to understand, down to earth, humorous, as well as motivating. Other times he speaks of good business practices to help people get ahead and still maintain integrity.
Two recent Sundays especially were appropriate to our national and state unemployment status. He gave encouragement to overcoming the fear of hearing 'No' in a job search and learning from it (5/2/10); and last week's article comparing animal behavior in nature to the fears and walls that take away one's confidence in job seeking (5/7/10) and in life. He brings out things most of us just don't think of.
I hope many more of your readers will turn to the Sunday Business section (right hand column) even if they are not looking for a job because the advice there may help them in many areas or could be shared with a friend or a family member. Once again, thank you for this good feature each week.
