Fola Eugenie Bolkcom Turner, 95

Fola became a soldier of The Salvation Army of Coeur d’Alene Corps and in 1934 went to The Salvation Army Officers Training College in San Francisco, Calif. She was commissioned a Lt. and ordained by General Evangeline Booth on July 15, 1935. She served as a Salvation Army officer from 1935 until 1950 in Corps (Church) appointments in Nevada, Oregon and California.
In 1950 she was appointed as the Divisional Youth Secretary for Northern California/Nevada Division. In 1953 she married Envoy James 0. Turner and served in Oakland, Calif. Latter they moved to Santa Cruz, Calif., where she became a social worker for the County Welfare Department for seven years. After retirement they spent several years traveling and following their hobby as rock hounds. They settled near Yuma, Ariz.
Following Jim’s death in January 1980, Fola returned to the Athol area, in 1981, to make her home near loved ones. For several years she spent winters in the Yuma area where she engaged in Ranch Ministries and Salvation Army activities. When in Idaho she attended the Hayden Lake Friends Church. She had prayed for The Salvation Army to return to Coeur d’Alene. As a faithful soldier of the Yuma Corps when the Salvation Army Kroc Center was opened she transferred to be the first Soldier on the roll. She was so happy to attend the dedication of the new center and claimed it was an answer to her prayers.
