Lester 'Les' Normen Zumbaum, 81
Lester “Les” Normen Zumbaum, 81, of Post Falls, formerly of Wallace, passed away May 16, 2010, at the Kootenai Medical Center Circle of Life in Coeur d’Alene. He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Harvey, N.D. Les was the son of Edward and Ida (Reiman) Zumbaum. Les was raised in McClusky, N.D.
Les moved to the Silver Valley in 1952 from North Dakota. He married Lois Fischer on Oct. 14, 1952, in Wallace. Lester and Lois resided in the Wallace area for more than 50 years.
Lester was employed by ASARCO Mining Company for 37 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Post Falls in 1996 to be closer to family. Lester loved and enjoyed his family and spending time outdoors, especially snowmobiling and gardening roses.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Zumbaum of 57 years; one son and his wife, Norman and Tammy Zumbaum of Rose Lake; two daughters Venessa Zumbaum of Maricopa, Ariz., and Lawna Wenger and her husband, John Wenger of Post Falls; two grandchildren Erin Zumbaum and Matt Wenger; three brothers Merle Zumbaum of Anoka, Minn., Edward Zumbaum of Minot, N.D., and Gary Zumbaum of Harlowton, Mont.; two sisters Peggy Weible of Minot and Betty Dockter of McClusky, N.D.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the United Church Of Christ Congregational in Wallace, with Rev. Robert Evans officiating. Burial will be held at the Osburn Cemetery in Osburn.
