Donald Ingalls, 86
Our loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather died peacefully on May 12, 2010, at his home in Coeur d’Alene surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Athol, S.D., to James and Ila (Knott) Ingalls.
He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1941. Peggy Castleman was his high school sweetheart and they married in 1942.
He joined the Navy, training at Farragut and served on the crew of Squadron Vpb-62 as a PBY Navigator in Kodiak, Alaska. After the war, he earned an associate’s degree in business and moved his family to Boise. He began a successful career in the Airline Industry.
Don and Peggy came home to Coeur d’Alene in 1995. He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Boys, VFW, First Baptist Church and served on the Board of Directors for Coeur d’Alene Homes.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his brothers, Eugene and Jim Ingalls; and parents.
He is survived by son, James Ingalls and daughter Judie Curry of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Booher, Kevin (Sarah) Curry, Michael Curry, Steve Sturm, Christa Ingalls, Dawn Banning and James A. Ingalls; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law Betty Garner of Seattle, Wash.; and first cousins Ron (Nancy), Dick (Jeannne) and Jim (Marie) Edinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 424 E. Wallace, Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane, Wash.
