David J. Moore, 52

David, a Seaside City Councilman and former owner of the Pizza Harbor died of cancer May 3, 2010, in Seaside, Ore. He was 52 years old. 

David was born March 26, 1958, to Ray and Lillian Moore in Gustine, Calif. 

David grew up and attended school in Coeur d’Alene, where at age 14 he worked at Pappy’s Pizza.     

David, also known as Dave, moved to Seaside at age 21 where he opened the Pizza Harbor and owned it for more than 30 years.

During this time he acquired a bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Business at Linfield College. His avocation was travel and he toured in Vietnam, India, Ireland, Cuba, Peru and Russia. He was planning a trip to Egypt when he became ill. 

In Seaside, David served on the Library Board, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Sons of the Legion, Lion’s Club and the World Affairs Council of Oregon. 

David was known in Seaside for his kindness and generosity to many and especially the kids that dropped in after school at the Pizza Harbor and to the down on their luck and hungry. 

David is survived by his mother, Lillian Moore Lind; his sister, Lynette Walsh and husband Bob of Coeur d’Alene; his brothers, Bill Moore of Seaside, Eric Moore, Jack Moore and wife Sherri of Coeur d’Alene; his uncle, Ramon Briant of California; his nieces and nephews, Erica, Heidi, Anna, Marbry, Sean, John, Katie, Savannah and Sarah. 

David is preceded in death by his father, Ray Moore; sister Linda; and niece Amy. 

And a special tribute to the Sunnell family (Toby and Ryan), and the many friends who helped during his journey home. 

A memorial service was held on May 8, 2010, at Arcadia Beach State Park with a reception following at the Pizza Harbor.

David’s eyes were donated to Lions Eye Bank.
