COFFEE: Stands must stand taller
Over the last few years CDA has sprouted a new coffee stand on just about every corner. As a born and bred Northwesterner, I appreciate a good cup of coffee and I love the option of grabbing one on the go. All this being said, I have a bit of a problem with one aspect of some local espresso stands, that being THE COFFEE!
The other day I stopped for a latte and was horrified by what I was given. I have to be honest folks, though I'm a committed coffee drinker, I found this to be one of the worst things I had ever tasted. I paid $2.50 for "coffee" that was so burnt I had to question what exactly I had just tasted.
Look, I'm not saying we should expect the world from these places, but if you're reading this and you own or work at a coffee stand, please offer a better product. This coffee was bitter, the milk was burnt, and the overall flavor showed nothing but carelessness on the part of an owner who failed to start with a decent coffee bean and laziness on the part of the employee who was more concerned with talking to her friend than watching the temperature of my milk.
So coffee stands, I beg you, start with better coffee, be mindful when you're making my drink, and please don't assume that I can't tell the difference between a good cup of coffee and a bad one.
