CDA: Bless this great place
I have been reading the letters to the editor in my CDA Press and I feel it’s time for something positive to be written.
I moved here, from Mt. Vernon, Wash., 10 years ago and I have never been sorry. I just want to say this: Idaho has to be one of the last frontiers of this great country. I have traveled every state in this beautiful country and some world travels as well. I was born in the state of Vermont. I was raised in San Diego. I spent time living in Florida, Louisiana, Washington state besides California and Vermont and I can truthfully say for myself, you can’t beat Idaho.
I have been fortunate enough to have a wonderful friend, Mike Jacobson, who was once a logger here in Idaho. He is 89 years old and was born and raised here. He knows North Idaho like the back of his hand hand has seen all of the changes Idaho has gone through in his lifetime. He and I have traveled the back country of this state and after miles and miles of beauty beyond words, I believe as others before me, this state is too beautiful for ahandful of money hungry mongers to ruin.
In the short time I have been here, I have seen our prairie turn from what was wonderful and productive farm land into housing developments. It makes me sad. I see our tree-filled forest being replaced by houses throughout the mountains and I hear people complain about our wildlife interfering with their lives. Oh yeah, they came to our beautiful area to get away from city life, the complications of suburbia and turn North Idaho into the same thing they moved away from.
Now I bet you there are some out there who are saying, “Well, who do you think you are to talk? After all, YOU moved here.” YES, I DID! And I respect the God-given beauty of this land and anytime you want to follow me into the hills, do a little flyfishing, walk these geat forests, ride along with me as I get out and inhanle the purist air in the country, come along. Just be sure to bring your baggies for your garbage or anything else you decide to desiccate the wooded area here with. It’s God’s country. Treat it like or better than you do your home.
While I’m at it, God bless the great police department here. Thank you for taking down the criminals and thank you for the great work of your latest endeavors, the taking down of so many drug-infested people who have the audacity of doing the crap they think they have to do to make money in this town.
God bless CDA.
