Alberta G. (Misner) Aldershof, 81
Alberta (Bert) passed away peacefully May 9, 2010, at the Four Seasons in Coeur d’Alene. She was born May 21, 1928, in North Hollywood, Calif., to Charlotte and William Misner.
Alberta graduated from North Hollywood High School in January 1947. Shortly after graduation she married Melvin J. Aldershof.
She was very active in Hollywood Malta Eastern Star Chapter, working her way up to Matron the same year Melvin was Patron. Alberta worked on many committees and helped run the bazaars at the Eastern Star Home. She lived the first part of her life in Southern California. Her favorite place she lived was on the grounds of the Huntington Library, where Mel was Director of Security and Maintenance while Alberta volunteered in the office.
In 1992, after Melvin’s passing, she moved to Hayden; joining the Eastern Star Queen Ester Chapter in Coeur d’Alene and beginning a new chapter in her life. Alberta loved traveling and spent the last 16 years traveling around the world. Her favorite trips were going to Iceland and her cruise through the Panama Canal. She was an avid reader, reading many books at one time.
Alberta is survived by her three children, daughter Nancy (Jim) Grissom of Coeur d’Alene; sons Ted (Martha) Aldershof of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Jim Aldershof of Bellflower, Calif.; grandchildren Eric (Lisa) Schmitz of Kimberly, Kristy Gonder of Coeur d’Alene, Ted (Vanessa) Aldershof of Woodland Hills and Amanda (Oscar) Velasquez of Woodland Hills; great-grandchildren Jessica, Josie, TJ, Savannah and JJ. She is also survived by her great-grand dogs, Bosco, JoJo, Sambo and CiCi and her favorite cat, Molly, who misses her dearly.
Alberta loved the Pacific Northwest, especially Coeur d’Alene. As was her wishes her ashes will be returned to the earth for eternity. Gifts of remembrance in honor of Alberta can be made to Hospice of North Idaho or Spokane Shriners Children’s Hospital.
