GREEN: He'd handle comp plan right

| May 11, 2010 7:01 AM

I have followed Kootenai County politics for 40 years and have witnessed the County Commissioners recent drawn out efforts to adopt a new comprehensive plan.

It is evident the county needs leaders who have vision, management skills, and a willingness to make land use decisions promoting development which preserves our quality of life.

Dan Green knows people visit and move to Kootenai County to enjoy its open space, lakes, and rivers.  His vision is to conserve these natural assets through wise land use decisions.

Dan has successfully run a large business. He is able to delegate tasks and hold people responsible for carrying them out.  He showed these management skills during numerous comprehensive plan deliberations.

I have closely watched Dan Green chair the county’s planning commission, especially since it began rewriting the comprehensive plan. As its chairman, he strongly urged the commission to listen to the public about the plan at many town hall meetings and other events. At them, he heard what people were saying and helped incorporate their ideas into the draft plan.

These are the reasons why I support Dan Green’s candidacy for Kootenai County’s District 3 County Commissioner position.
