Chamber holds 'Membership Blitz'

| May 11, 2010 9:00 PM

The Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Membership Blitz this week.

"Every year we hold a Spring Membership Blitz right before Memorial Day so newer businesses to town, or even old ones who are looking for a new marketing approach can promote themselves through the various outlets our chamber provides for our members," said Marilee Wallace, sales and marketing director for the chamber.

She said spring is a great time for businesses to join their local chamber to promote themselves.

Membership to the chamber is less than $300. For joining, a business is added to the chamber's website, www.cdachamber.com and to the referral list for call in traffic.

"We offer several networking opportunities and committee involvement opportunities as well but even if that's not a person's cup of tea, being listed on the website and being able to display brochures in the chamber's front lobby, the membership investments pays for itself," Wallace said.

The chamber's Visitors Center receives an estimated 34,000 visitors a year.

The chamber also offers other avenues to boost business for members.

It is offering members a free, five-part webinar series "that addresses our current times and how you can achieve that competitive advantage that will possibly reward far into the future."

This week's webinar is entitled, "How Healthcare Reform Will Affect Small Business" and is presented by Paycheck Connection. It is set for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, and is free to chamber members.

If a business joins by Friday, it will also get an additional $150 worth of discounts.

The chamber has about 1,200 members. Its executive director is Todd Christensen.
