Dianna Lee Ballard, 63

| May 8, 2010 2:22 AM

Dianna Lee Ballard, 63, resident of Prichard, passed away May 5, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene, surrounded by her family, after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Oakland, Calif., to Andrew Jackson Jeter and Mary Lou (Hill) Jeter.

She was raised in the military and grew up in California, Texas, Hawaii and Washington. She married her husband of 39 years Guy (Steve) Ballard on May 15, 1971, in Riverside, Calif.

She worked as a secretary for the Alford School District before moving with Steve and their children to Coeur d’Alene in 1981. She worked for the Bethel Baptist Church as a secretary for 10 years. After moving to Prichard, she worked at Night Hawk Radiology as a Licensing Specialist for several years before retiring Nov. 30, 2008, due to her illness.

She loved the outdoors, quilting, church, four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends. Dian went on a Cuban Mission trip in 2003, and later went on to fellowship at Pinehurst Real Life Ministries. Dian had a special relationship with everyone who crossed paths with her, and her relationship with God was no exception. From the moment of her diagnosis she had no fear, only peace about where she was going.

Dian is survived by her husband, Steve; two brothers; one sister; four children; five grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Real Life Ministries Food Bank in Pinehurst, Concerned People for Animals or the Prichard Fire Department.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene.
