Why are you running for office?
Idaho has one of the poorest economies in the United States. Idaho ranks #1 in the NW and #13 in the United States in state and local tax burden. I would eliminate personal and corporate income tax to stimulate the economy. The federal government has over-stepped its constitutional authority in multiple areas. I would challenge the federal government over these issues and the rightful ownership and control of our public lands.
What do you see as the three biggest issues you’ll face?
The economy, reforming public education, and standing up to the federal government by asserting Idaho’s states’ rights.
If elected, what steps will you take to resolve these issues?
When Idaho eliminates personal and corporate income tax, we will move from near the top in state and local tax burden to near the bottom. Businesses from all over the United States will move to Idaho bringing capital, jobs, and growth. Our welfare needs would be greatly diminished because more jobs would be available making our dependence on federal monies much less. Idaho could then assert her states’ rights and become independent and sovereign of the federal government.
In order to balance the budget, Idaho must reform her public education system. I would eliminate the federal program “No Child Left Behind” along with the state bureaucracy needed to implement it and all other state mandates. I would give complete control over education back to the parents and the teachers. This will improve education and save Idaho millions and millions of dollars.
We must say “No” to mandatory health insurance (regardless of the outcome of the law suit), man-made global warming (our current governor has ordered the state to reduce green house gas emissions), wolves (our current governor called them “sustainable trophy game animals), EPA regulations, and the prohibition of mining and logging on our public lands. It is time to do more than talk and threaten law suits. I will just say “No!”
What specific skills or experience qualify you for this job?
Veterinary medicine is one of the most difficult professions in the United States. Veterinarians diagnose the problem and then devise a plan to fix it. Unlike our current governor who seems to be aimlessly wandering with no real plan to fix the economy, I have diagnosed the problem and have the plan to fix it! My plan is explained in more detail at www.voteRammell.com
Why should voters elect you, rather than an opponent?
Idaho faces, possibly, the worst financial crisis in our history. I will push through the biggest tax cut along with the biggest policy change in public education in Idaho history. Then we will give the boot to the feds and kick them out of our state in all areas where they have no constitutional authority, including control over our public lands and the trillions of dollars of natural resources.
