Plenty of things to do
This is a busy week and weekend coming up. Tonight at 6 p.m. the Coeur d'Alene and Lake City high school baseball teams will team up in Homeruns 4 Homeless at McEuen Field. On Friday I have the pleasure of emceeing the Faces of Hope ICARE fundraiser at Art Spirit Gallery with my favorite auctioneer Rose Backs. Ten incredible artists ... Donna Bain, Allan Dodge, Rhea Giffin, Lori Hintz, Charleen Martin, Gregg Perrenoud, Patty Sgrecci, Hayley Shortridge, Stephen Shortridge and Iva Talacko have created works-of-art masks. No sneak peeks, Beth Barclay wouldn't let me take any advance photos.
Saturday is the second Jordan Johnson Fun Run to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County, Post Falls Junior Miss at PFHS and Champagne, Cheesecake, Cabernet & Chocolate at the Coeur d'Alene Inn to benefit the Coeur d'Alene Women's Center. On Sunday, all moms will be treated to a free breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Post Falls Senior Center courtesy of the Post Falls Lions and there's a free Mother's Day concert at Coeur d'Alene City Park at 2 p.m.

Nearly 50,000 runners, walkers and joggers completed the 7.46-mile Bloomsday course on Sunday. Earning her 22nd finisher's T-shirt was my friend, Kathrynle Eachon, who celebrated her 82nd birthday a month ago. She did her first Bloomsday when she was 60 years old! What a gal.

May 7 is the birthdate of Kathie Brack and Phil Pyseky. Tiffany Moore Teal turns the big 3-0 on Saturday, which is also the birthday of Jared Raynor, Mary Rednour and Dave Walker. A Mother's Day birthday belongs to Cory Snyder and on Monday wish Shelly Servick a happy birthday. Next Tuesday Irene Deckon turns 90 and shares her May 11 birthday with Bonnie McDowell, Anne Hagman, Sharon Culbreth, Ginger Cutler, Margie Adams and Anthony Skarisky.

Barbara Cunningham introduced herself at a recent function, saying she'd been reading Main Street for years. I asked if she'd ever appeared in the birthday club mentions and she told me she hadn't because I didn't know her birthdate and she wasn't telling. So here's a non-birthday shout out to Barbara and all the folks at Coeur d'Alene Tractor.
