When a loved one moves to a room in a retirement facility, he or she brings belongings that remind him or her of the past. But what may be the most treasured possession - a spouse - is often left behind. The spouse may choose to remain at home or in another room or apartment in a continuing care retirement community or assisted living facility. But if the two want to live together, there are very few options.

Husbands and wives have different needs at different points in their lives. Legacy House has designed its home to accommodate couples who are at different stages of life but want to keep living together. Once in an assisted living facility, spouses represent continuity, support and companionship. They can enjoy each other without the caregiver worries. All the stress is taken away because our staff does that part and they can focus on what they can do together.

Legacy House offers suites for couples with 24-hour assisted care of daily living. Housekeeping and laundry is done daily and the staff coordinates daily activities and entertainment. Legacy House also offers medication assistance as well as the peace of mind knowing that there is a licensed nurse on staff. With a state of the art kitchen and a fabulous chef, they are able to cater to special events that you may have in mind.

In addition to meeting our residents needs by providing safe rooms, open floor plans and secure courtyards, Legacy House has created a solution for couples. A service plan for each individual is set upon admission. The service plan details the personalized services required by each resident and guaranteed by the facility. The plans are updated regularly to assure that the residents' receive the appropriate care as his or her condition changes.

Legacy House accepts private pay, Medicaid, Respite insurance and VA payments. It is unique in the fact that if residents' funds become used up, they can continue residing at Legacy House until the end of their lives, providing they qualify for Medicaid coverage. Legacy House also accepts Hospice patients for short- or long-term respite care as well as provides adult day care.

You are invited to stop by Legacy House and experience the unique feel of their "home." Call for a tour or schedule a free lunch or dinner. For more information, contact Kathleen Rosetti at 773-8218 or 704-0283. Legacy House is located at 1136 E. Mullan Ave. in Post Falls.
